CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN PARTY 2007 SPRING CONVENTION

February 12 – Embracing our core Republican values and principles such as lower taxes, less government, individual responsibility, and a strong national defense was the main theme of the 2007 spring convention. The San Benito Republican Party was very well represented at the Spring Convention with a total of six local Republican Committee members attending the convention in Sacramento.

CRP Vice-Chairman, Tom Del Becarro simply stated, “our party does not make nearly enough use of the Internet, Internet fund raising and or Talk Radio.” Tom Del Becarro will be this year’s headline speaker for our County Republican Party’s, Lincoln-Reagan dinner at Paines Restaurant on February 24. Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who earned the title “America’s Mayor” for his heroic response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, brought the excitement of a front-runner Republican Presidential candidate to the Spring Convention. San Benito County Chairman Marvin Jones interviewed by the Sacramento Bee newspaper stated, “Mayor Rudy may have some faults, but I support him in his candidacy.”

Newly elected CRP Chairman Ron Nehring “the locomotive” in his motivational acceptance speech stated, “at the end of the day, the world is run by those who show up.” The time is perfect now, before any major election, to “show up” and support your local San Benito Republican Party by attending Republican Party fund raising events, becoming a Republican Party activist and by not losing sight of our clear goal which is to elect Republicans into office in San Benito County, California, and the United States.

It should be added that Mayor Giuliani lowered taxes in New York City (and tax revenue increased), reduced government regulations making the city more business friendly, and reduced crime that reversed the ailing tourist industry. His position on illegal immigration is to close the borders first and then find a method to allow solid immigrants to learn English and become citizens.
