LEADS IN EARMARKS
January 24 – Want an earmark for your organization? Make a donation to Senator Clinton’s campaign and your chances go way up. All types of groups are eligible.
A group that lobbies for needle exchanges, for allowing more immigrants with HIV/AIDS to legally enter the country, and for condom distribution in prisons received a $303,000 federal earmark. Clinton announced the grant in October 2007, a month after receiving a $750 donation and a $250 donation from Felix Lopez, an attorney for the Gay Men's Health Crisis and for a clinic based in New York. Not a bad return, donate $1000, receive $303,000.
A number of other non-profit organizations in New York state that received Clinton earmarks also had employees who contributed to her presidential campaign or political action committee, HillPAC.
Senator Clinton had 261 earmarks out of about 1000 earmarks in a recent $555 billion FY 2008 omnibus bill. That was far and away more than any other presidential candidate.

December 9 - Senator Clinton is coming to San Francisco next week for a fund raising event. Mayor Gavin Newsom will join her.
It has been reported (here) that Any-Twosome-Newsom will also campaign in IOWA for Mrs. Clinton.

December 3 – Senator Clinton expressed surprise that her staff had planted individuals in the audience of the recent Democrat Debate. It turns out, at least one plant, anti-war activist Catherine Jackson, has been in the news at other anti-war demonstrations. Another was a member of Harry Reid’s office staff. Then there was a Clinton co-chair, Keith Kerr, flown to the Republican CNN debate on 11-29 to ask questions. Reference 2
These are just too many coincidences to be random events. A former MSChA chapter president was available at the Democratic debate to ask an immigration question.
Little wonder the Democrats ducked the Fox channel ‘debates.’ They knew they would not be able to control the questions. Then the Republicans went to the CNN debates where it seems the Democrats controlled the questions again.
That does not say much for the integrity of CNN. But we knew that since CNN confessed to slanting news from Baghdad in order to keep their Baghdad office open back in 2001.

October 20 – We have heard about the San Francisco connection to Norman Hsu. Hillary returned $850,000.
Recently there was a fund raiser in New York Chinatown where she raised $380,000 and had to return about $7,000 to several donors. Other donors could not be found; still other $1000 donors were not registered to vote or had jobs that paid very low wages.

October 16 - Republicans plan to seize on an allegation from the 1992 presidential campaign to tarnish Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) on the red-hot issue of government surveillance.
Government surveillance will be at the forefront of the political debate this fall as congressional Democrats and President Bush square off over legislation allowing electronic spying on U.S. soil without a warrant.
Republicans are focusing on an allegation in a recent book by two Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters, which suggests Clinton listened to a secretly recorded conversation between political opponents.
In their book about Clinton's rise to power, Her Way, Don Van Natta Jr., an investigative reporter at The New York Times, and Jeff Gerth, who spent 30 years as an investigative reporter at the paper, wrote: "Hillary's defense activities ranged from the inspirational to the microscopic to the down and dirty. She received memos about the status of various press inquiries; she vetted senior campaign aides; and she listened to a secretly recorded audiotape of a phone conversation of Clinton critics plotting their next attack. ...
"Bill's supporters monitored frequencies used by cell phones, and the tape was made during one of those monitoring sessions."
A GOP official said, "Hillary Clinton's campaign hypocrisy continues to know no bounds. It is rather unbelievable that Clinton would listen in to conversations being conducted by political opponents, but refuse to allow our intelligence agencies to listen in to conversations being conducted by terrorists as they plot and plan to kill us. Team Clinton can expect to see and hear this over and over again over the course of the next year."
Gerth told The Hill that he learned of the incident in 2006 when he interviewed a former campaign aide present at the tape playing. He has not revealed the aide's identity. Clinton's campaign has not disputed any facts reported in the final version of his book, which became public this spring, he said. ...
Several legal experts said it was illegal to intercept cell phone conversations in 1992.
"It's been clear that since 1986 it was illegal to intercept an individual cell phone call," said Barry Steinhardt, the director of the technology and liberty program at the American Civil Liberties Union. ...

SOCIAL SECURITY TAX
October 12 - Washington – With typical Clintonian deception, Hillary Clinton is considering raising Social Security taxes while ruling out a tax increase in public.
When Democrat John Edwards embraced a Social Security tax hike three weeks ago at the AARP Presidential Forum, Senator Clinton refused to embrace a similar proposal, even when pressed by Edwards. Now, ABC News is reporting Hillary Clinton is telling voters she would consider a Social Security tax hike after all.
Of course, Hillary’s Social Security tax hike is just the latest atrocity in a long catalogue of disastrously liberal proposals that include her recent call to adjust NAFTA and postpone all new free trade agreements, her zealous support for universal pre-kindergarten and healthcare, and her proposal to create a brand new entitlement program by giving every person in America a taxpayer-funded baby bond.
“With each passing day, the liberal, tax-hiking nightmare that is Hillary Clinton’s candidacy is becoming all the more clear,” Club for Growth President Pat Toomey said. “She is an inveterate tax-hiker who simply can’t resist the urge to pilfer taxpayers’ hard-earned money. September 20 - The Senate voted 72-25 to condemn an advertisement by the anti-war group MoveOn.org that accused General David Petreus of betrayal. REFERENCE

THE MEANING OF HILLARY

I am reminded of the words of British punk rocker Billy Idol. He said he loved America. After all, "where else could you call yourself an Idol and that makes you one." So much for reality.
Hillary Clinton appears to be singing Billy's tunes these days.
In the crass "You Tube" debate just the other day, Hillary refused to call herself liberal. Instead, Hillary self-proclaimed, in true reality-be-damned Clinton style:
"I prefer the word progressive, which has a real American meaning."
Now I endeavored to find the "Real American Meaning" Dictionary so I could look up the word progressive. Alas, Barnes & Noble didn't have it and I couldn't find it online.
Hampered though I was to understand Hillary's preference, I consulted Webster. He appeared to have a somewhat larger following than Hillary's preferred dictionary.
According to Webster, progressive had the following meaning:
1 a : of, relating to, or characterized by progress
b: making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities
c: of, relating to, or constituting an educational theory marked by emphasis on the individual child, informality of classroom procedure, and encouragement of self-expression
Referring to that universally accepted English language definition, I still was left wanting as to Hillary's true meaning. After all, looking at definition (1a), what progress has Hillary's thought process made of late? In her college thesis, she glorified the work of communist thinker Saul D. Alinsky - later the Clinton White House asked Wellesley College to block access to her manifesto.
On June 27, 2004, Hillary declared in San Francisco, "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." That's about as Marxist as you can get. And of course, now Hillary wants to raise tax rates through the roof, nationalize Health Care, cap private sector pay, on and on and on. Maybe that's why Mitt Romney referred to Hillary as having Marxist ideas. In any case, I can't find any progress there.
Perhaps definition (1b) holds the key: "making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities." Not again it would seem. She is recycling her old ideas along with those of the New Deal, The Great Society and the War on Poverty. She doesn't seem to have an interest in any new ideas at all.
Then I figured it out. Definition (1c) states "an educational theory marked by . . . encouragement of self-expression."
Hillary's act is nothing more than modern self-expression. The Dems know they get hammered when the "L" word is used and so they prefer the more self-expressive "progressive." Mystery solved.
The problems for Republicans, though - no matter how high Hillary's negatives are or ridiculous she may seem - if Republicans don't stop fighting amongst themselves and recover their Reagan roots, they will lose this upcoming election just as the Dems did in 1968 - and that certainly wouldn't amount to progress for the Country.
