TAX REVENUE
It is intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that if the government wants to increase revenue, the tax rate should be increased. History does not support that obvious deduction.
Consider the figure below. When tax rates increase, economic downturns, some severe, often follow and tax revenues decrease. When tax rates are decreases, the economy expands and, after an initial dip, tax revenue increases.
